About the artist: Betsy Raybon

Betsy was born and raised in the coastal town of Toms River, New Jersey, but has called Houston home since 1978. She has been a life-long student of the arts although her only formal training was in high school. Over the years, the challenges of being a single mom drew her attention away from any serious artistic pursuits, but the desire to create is unquenchable. You might say it’s in her DNA. She continued to dabble in the visual arts, primarily in pen & ink drawings, water color and oil painting. In recent years Betsy found a renewed focus and excitement for using her talents when she discovered and joined the Pride of Texas Decorative Artists (PTDA) in Katy, Texas, a chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. This group is primarily engaged in tole painting, folk art and painting on objects. Soon after that she joined the Imperial Art Alliance (IAA) a chapter of The Lone Star Art Guild, a group focused on all forms of visual arts. The variety of art classes offered by these groups, including acrylics, water color, collage, mixed media/abstract, and pen and ink, have allowed Betsy’s talent to blossom and thrive.
Betsy is currently one of the IAA representatives to the Lone Star Art Guild.
