About the Artist Dana Brown

Dana Brown is an artist from Austin, who has worked with Gamblin Artists Colors for the past twelve years educating artists about their various products and their uses. Dana works in a variety of media, ranging from oil painting to collage. In his capacity at Gamblin Artists Colors, and through his position at Ampersand Art Supply, he has worked with artists and conservators from all over the world, to help spread information about traditional and contemporary art materials, innovations, and archival concerns.
Originally from rural Iowa, Dana moved to Portland, Oregon, after completing his bachelor’s degree in painting. While there, he spent almost six years with the Gamblin Artists Colors’ factory, before moving to sunnier, central Texas. Making artists’ oil paint nurtured his interest in the constantly evolving world of artists’ materials. His work reinforced his belief that access to information about the materials that we use, helps support our personal, artistic intentions. http://danabrownstudio.tumblr.com/
