about the artist:
doug shepardson
Doug grew up in the suburbs of Boston and after graduating from the University of Massachusetts he worked for several years as an award-winning advertising copywriter. He gave up the cold and snow of New England winters for the warm sunsets of Southern California and a career in aerospace contracts management. Over the years the desire to be creative had to take a backseat to the responsibilities of work and helping to raise three children. His inner muse urged him to write and paint, even though he had no formal art education. He began to paint occasionally and while in California he became a member of two art groups, the Palos Verdes Artists Group and the Torrance Artists Guild. When he retired, Doug left the crowded freeways and dry heat of L.A. for the wide-open green spaces and tropical heat of Sugar Land. With more time now available to be creative, Doug has been able to pursue his interests in creative writing, photography, and of course, art. He continues to paint in oils and acrylics, creating pictures that he hopes the viewers will find warm and inviting.
