Demo & Workshop Description: Work along a master portraiture artist, Eddie Filer, Jr., as he demonstrates his talent and technique to create beautiful and detailed portraits using graphite and/or charcoal. Eddie will illustrate the methods he uses to achieve wonderful detail with light and shadow and how he creates masterful and powerful portraits. This is a wonderful opportunity for a hands-on learning experience with a master artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Eddie Filer, Jr. has been an active artist for over thirty years. While classical portraiture is his main focus; he pursues other forms of painting and creates in other media, such as photography and sculpture. He prefers oil paint to other mediums because of its slow drying time (which allows for adjustments to be made on wet-on-wet painting). Eddie has taught art in public schools, gives painting workshops. He believes in teaching detailed drawing fundamentals.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Eddie currently resides in Texas City with his wife of 29 years and their two children.
Certificate of Excellence at the Portrait Society of America, Annual International Portrait Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Three works on canvas accepted into the Houston Citywide Art Exhibition, at the University of Texas Southern.
