Demo and Workshop Description:
Workshop Description:
Alcohol Inks are a medium that is becoming popular as a choice medium for expressive colors and beautiful flow. They are best used on smooth, non-absorbent surfaces, such as Yupo paper. They also work very well over an epoxy coated canvas. They can be blended using low/cool setting from a hairdryer, straws and canned air that is sold at office supply businesses. Most artists create flowing abstracts, however there are methods for creating realism using the inks with brushes. Realism is a method that will require a separate workshop.
For this workshop, we will explore the basics, which include how to best control the flowing inks to achieve interesting flowing and swirling designs using 1 to 3 colors.
Supply List:
Inks and paper are included in the cost of the workshop.
Students will need to bring pair of disposable Latex gloves, an apron or other cover-up, and any brand of hand wipes or even alcohol hand wipes, and a hairdryer with an extension cord.
